About This Role

The Executive Director provides strategic, innovative, and collaborative leadership to advance evidence-informed teaching, instructional innovation, and student learning across the university. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Innovation (or designee), the Executive Director leads a centralized hub supporting faculty and graduate student development, instructional design, pedagogical innovation, and the effective, ethical use of educational technologies. The Executive Director works closely with academic leadership, colleges, university committees, student success units, information technology, and faculty governance to strengthen teaching and learning across all modalities.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience in teaching and pedagogical development. Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager. The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the financial management expertise, strategic planning capabilities and analytical skills essential for developing and articulating a shared vision, constructing and monitoring budgetary metrics and identifying program needs and assessment procedures. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and intensive experiential experience inherent in a formal degree program.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarly or creative achievement.
  • Proven leadership experience with academic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovative teaching and learning.
  • Leadership experience in a teaching and learning center, academic innovation hub, or similar unit.
  • Expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, learning science, or evidenceinformed pedagogy.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring faculty, graduate students, and staff.
  • Experience with grant writing and generating external support.
  • Familiarity with learning analytics and impact evaluation.


Additional Role Information:



  • A faculty appointment, with or without tenure, may be available for qualified candidates, subject to review and approval by the appropriate academic department and university processes.
