Surgical Tech (Healthcare Technician II)

Job Summary:

The Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has an opening for a PRN Surgical First Assistant Tech at UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital.

Job duties:

* Direct care includes practice in Perioperative, PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) or Operating Room levels of care

* Prepare operating room, equipment, and patient for surgery

* Maintain sterile field and follow safety protocols

* Assist surgeon by handling instruments and anticipating needs

* Provide visibility of surgical site (retracting, suctioning, sponging)

* Control bleeding and assist with suturing and wound closure

* Positions patient using stabilizing equipment to give best exposure for surgical procedure while maximizing patient comfort and safety.

* Apply dressings and assist with patient transfer after surgery

* Ensure accurate counts of instruments and supplies

* Document involvement and support post-operative care

* FTE: PRN, 0.0, 0.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

* This role is expected to work onsite in Highlands Ranch, CO

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

* High School diploma or GED.

* One (1) year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position

* Surgical Technologist program

* Certified as a one of the following: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by NBSTSA; Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by NSAA; Surgical Assistant-Certified (SA-C) by ABSA. State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration.

* Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.

Credentials:

* Certified Surgical First Assistant

* Surgical Assistant

* Surgical Tech

* Basic Life Support

* Surgical Assistant Certified

* Certified Surgical Assistant

Preferred Qualifications:

* Associates Degree

* 1+ year experience in medical office/hospital setting

* Medical office experience in area of specialty

* EPIC and Kronos experience

* Bilingual, Spanish-speaking

* MS Office: Outlook, Power Point, Word

Anticipated Pay Range:

Pay: $38.72 - $58.08 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
