Job Title: Legal Attorney

Location(s): Washington, DC 20049 (Onsite)

Job Summary:

The Legal Attorney will provide legal advice, representation, and support to eligible clients, focusing on landlord-tenant law. The role involves engaging in systemic advocacy, conducting community outreach, and collaborating with legal services advocates and community leaders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides timely, accurate information, legal advice, representation including in eviction and housing conditions litigation and/or non-litigation matters, referral, self-help materials, guidance, and/or other assistance to eligible clients within and related to landlord-tenant law.
  • Engages in or supports systemic advocacy relating to areas of expertise.
  • Conducts community outreach, education, and training events.
  • Provides guidance and refers cases to volunteers, law students, and legal support staff, and monitors their work on assigned cases.
  • Develops and maintains expertise in primary areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborates with other legal services advocates, clients, and community leaders with the purpose of working in partnership on systemic issues.
Required Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a law degree and be licensed to practice in the relevant jurisdiction. Experience in landlord-tenant law and advocacy is preferred.
