Primary Function

You would be responsible for the direct leadership of Armed Guard teams in highthreat locations, performing supervisory duties for Senior Guards and their assigned personnel. You would ensure Senior Guards are properly conducting their duties, fully informed, and relaying accurate information to the leadership team. This position supports Department of State Worldwide Protective Services III (WPS III) Task Orders in austere environments. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Onsite supervision of a group of guards or a specific sector or function of the guard program.
  • Ensure all assigned guard posts are staffed, monitoring performance of assigned guard force personnel.
  • Ensure that all guard personnel are aware of and abide by all post and general orders and standard operating procedures established at the TO level.
  • When assigned to Emergency Response Team (ERT) duty:
    • At the team level, manage and direct emergency response operations on a day-to-day basis.
    • Directly supervise all assigned ERT members, ensuring that all work assignments are completed.
    • Ensure all ERT assignments are properly staffed, equipped, and ready to respond.
    • Direct and control emergency response activity, both in-person and through radio communications.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess one (1) of the following:
    • A minimum of six (6) years of experience as a military officer or NCO (at E-6 or above or equivalent), or equivalent law enforcement/armed commercial guard force supervisory experience;
    • (Or) Seven (7) years of Armed Guard experience on WPS III or WPS II
    • (Or) Three (3) years of ERT/QRF experience on WPS III or WPS II; or
    • (Or) One (1) year of SL experience under WPS III or any of its predecessor contracts.
  • Experience must include physical security, access control, and force protection.
  • Experience may be gained in the employ of any federal, state, provincial, local, or commercial entities providing armed guard services.
  • Must attend and successfully complete a supervisory course
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
  • Applicants must pass the pre-employment Physical Readiness Test (PRT) in order to advance in the application process for the position.

Training (Paid Training):

  • Attend and successfully complete the DOS Guard Basic and Quick Reaction Force training courses. If already completed and/or served on a DOS TO within the last 3 years, must pass a weapon and PRT requalification course on TO.
  • Qualify with the Glock-19, M4 or MK18 as specified by the designated TO, M240, and M249.
  • Complete the WPS III PRT.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Must be approved for a Department of State Medical Clearance.
  • Must be able to walk, squat, crawl, run, quickly enter/exit vehicles, maneuver around obstacles, carry heavy equipment and personnel, and operate missionessential issued equipment requiring dexterity.
  • Must be able to operate and/or travel in vehicles on improved and unimproved roadways, as well as offroad.
  • Must be physically able to carry and operate firearms.
  • Must maintain physical fitness readiness that includes, but is not limited to: medium and/or longdistance running, bench presses, agility runs, pushups, situps, and stretching.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods with minimal breaks.
  • Must possess no medical or physical impediments to traveling overseas to and within countries considered dangerous or unhealthy. Must be able to travel long distances in airplanes, helicopters, and road vehicles.
