Job Summary

Under supervision, incumbents perform the duties of an operational level physical therapist. The Per Diem Physical Therapist reports to the Clinical Supervisor, Physical Therapy and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Per Diem P.T. works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The Per Diem P.T. with specific pediatric competencies may also work with infants, children and/or adolescents.

Under general direction and upon receipt of written referrals, the Per Diem P.T. plans and administers a full range of physical therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and disabilities. Services include patient evaluations using physical therapy tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing physical therapy modalities and procedures. The Per Diem Physical Therapist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services. While performing job duties, the Per Diem P.T. may also provide guidance to support personnel including Physical Therapist Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides, as needed.

Physical therapy students and clinical faculty participate as part of a team within an environment of health care that is patient focused and directed towards building the scientific base of clinical practice, with an eye toward equity, quality, accessibility, and efficiency.
