Job Summary

The Global PACCAR Electronics (GPE) organization is seeking a Software Release Engineer to manage embedded software releases for commercial vehicle systems. In this role, you will own the end-to-end coordination of software deliverables, ensuring seamless integration, validation, and launch readiness across PACCAR manufacturing plants and field applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to deliver high-quality software that meets production, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage release control of embedded software components and calibration parameters for commercial vehicle systems.

  • Author and release engineering documentation, including drawings and part number definitions, to support software and calibration configurations.

  • Create and maintain Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to manage updates across production and aftermarket environments.

  • Define and maintain production-facing software and calibration structures to ensure alignment between vehicle systems, backend systems, and PACCAR proprietary service tools.

  • Develop and enhance processes for software selection, configuration, integration, and delivery.

  • Translate vehicle and sales requirements into parameter logic to enable configuration-based software calibrations driven by order data.

  • Track and communicate release readiness, including progress on software validation, programming tools, regulatory submissions, and launch milestones.

  • Support vehicle launches at manufacturing plants and troubleshoot field issues as they arise.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams to ensure high-quality software releases.

  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely, accurate delivery of externally developed software and components.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.

  • Strong ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project tracking skills.

  • Proficiency with standard business tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt to new processes, and solve complex technical problems.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform root cause analysis using multiple data sources.

  • Ability to translate customer requirements into technical solutions.Commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable, and scalable solutions.

  • Self-driven with a growth mindset and results-oriented approach.

Desired Attributes

  • 1+ years of experience in design, development, or release of automotive or commercial vehicle systems (software, ECUs, HMI, driver controls, etc.).

  • Experience with programming or scripting languages such as MATLAB, C++, or C#.

  • Familiarity with heavy-duty vehicle regulations, including emissions, safety, instrumentation, and on-board diagnostics.

  • Understanding of vehicle electrical/electronic architectures and software-driven functionality.

  • Working knowledge of communication and diagnostic protocols such as J1939, UDS, and Automotive Ethernet.

  • Preferred Technical Experience:

    • Diesel Powertrain Control Systems

    • HV Battery Electric/Electrification Control Systems

At PACCAR, we value talent and promote growth and development. We carefully consider numerous compensation factors including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for this role is $67,800.00 - $101,700.00 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
