MRIGlobal is seeking a senior, hands-on business development leader to drive growth across our pharmaceutical services portfolio. This individual will be responsible for originating, developing, and closing new business opportunities with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, vaccine, and life sciences organizations while helping shape and execute MRIGlobal's commercial growth strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep pharmaceutical industry experience, an established network of customer relationships, and a proven track record of selling complex scientific services and growing strategic accounts.



This is a revenue-generating "player-coach" role. The primary expectation is that the individual will personally generate and close new business through existing industry relationships, strategic account development, and consultative selling. Depending on the candidate's background and leadership experience, this role may also include management and development of MRIGlobal's commercial business development team.



The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the pharmaceutical development lifecycle and experience selling scientific, research, laboratory, development, or contract research services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers. They will work closely with scientific, operational, marketing, finance, contracts, and executive leadership teams to align market opportunities with MRIGlobal's capabilities and convert those opportunities into sustainable growth.



Business Development and Revenue Growth (Primary Focus)



  • Personally originate, qualify, advance, negotiate, and close new business opportunities within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, vaccine, and life sciences markets.
  • Leverage an established industry network to create qualified opportunities, expand strategic accounts, and develop long-term customer relationships.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities that supports annual bookings and revenue growth objectives.
  • Develop and execute account-specific growth strategies for targeted pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers.
  • Lead consultative customer engagements to understand business, technical, and scientific requirements and align them with MRIGlobal solutions.
  • Collaborate with scientific and technical teams to shape opportunities, develop win strategies, and position differentiated solutions.
  • Support and influence proposal strategy, pricing approaches, customer presentations, negotiations, and contract award activities.
  • Represent MRIGlobal at industry conferences, partnering events, customer meetings, and professional organizations.



Strategic Growth and Market Leadership



  • Monitor and communicate emerging trends, customer priorities, competitive developments, outsourcing strategies, and market opportunities.
  • Develop recommendations for new market expansion, strategic partnerships, and growth initiatives.
  • Provide leadership with actionable account intelligence, pipeline forecasts, and market insights.
  • Identify opportunities to expand MRIGlobal's presence within existing accounts and develop multi-year account growth plans.



Commercial Team Leadership (Based on Experience)



  • Lead, develop, and mentor commercial business development professionals.
  • Establish performance expectations, pipeline discipline, account planning standards, and customer engagement best practices.
  • Foster collaboration among business development, marketing, scientific, operational, proposal, finance, and contracts teams.
  • Support annual business planning, growth strategy development, and resource prioritization.



Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in business, science, engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12 years of progressive business development, sales, account management experience including substantial experience supporting pharmaceutical service sales.
  • Demonstrated experience selling pharmaceutical services, contract research services, scientific services, laboratory services, bioanalytical services, preclinical services, translational research services, or related outsourced R&D capabilities.
  • Proven success developing, pursuing, negotiating, and winning complex commercial opportunities.
  • Established network of relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences decision-makers.
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical development lifecycle, outsourcing models, procurement processes, and industry dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage strategic customer relationships that generate repeat business and sustained account growth.
  • Experience developing, managing, and forecasting a commercial opportunity pipeline through a CRM platform.
  • Ability to effectively engage scientists, technical experts, executives, and external customers.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.


Pay Range - $174,700 - $218,000


The salary range is intended as a general guideline and is not a guaranteed offer, as compensation depends on various factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market conditions.
