Job Summary

This role will serve to supervise, plan, and coordinate the efforts of the Maintenance Technicians and Specialists for the Facilities Services Department.The role will work closely with and assist the maintenance team when needed to facilitate the activities and duties of the maintenance team to include, but not be limited to, hands on maintenance, coordination with requestors, procurement of materials, parts and services needed to complete required maintenance tasks for the college. Inspection of work performed in-house and by contracted service providers will be required. The role will actively participate in the evaluation of assigned staff, the planning of maintenance tasks and projects, and the evaluation of divisional performance of the assigned responsibilities. Additionally, participation in departmental planning and administration of policies and procedures will be required.

Essential Functions

50% Supervising, planning, and directing the work of subordinate staff in response to requests and needs of the department, including the use of CMMS and coordination of facilities operations efforts across the College campuses. May include hands-on assistance with staff and assignment of priorities for maintenance activities.

15% Participates in and helps facilitate staff evaluations, staff adherence to established SOPs, and the development of SOPs needed for departmental operations.

10% Interfaces with facility users and requestors regarding facilities maintenance needs for campus buildings and grounds.

10% Facilitates data collection and report generation for facilities maintenance activities in adherence to safe and proper systems operation.

15% Participates in assigned committee responsibilities associated with human resources, consultant selection, campus administrative processes, special projects, emergency response activities, and other departmental initiatives as assigned by departmental management.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED certificate combined with four (or more) years of maintenance operations, of
which at least two years were at the lead or senior level of demonstrated responsibility.
OR
Possession of a college degree and work experience suitable to demonstrate the ability to successfully
perform the duties of this role can be considered in evaluating minimum qualifications.

Desired Qualifications

1.Successful performance in construction and/or maintenance operations for residential/commercial/industrial
organizations.
2. Successful demonstration of responsibilities in meeting and communicating with facility users and
requestors of services and support from Facilities Services. Ability to work effectively and respectfully with
individuals from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives is required
3. Demonstrated successful performance in supervising maintenance and operations staff in relation to
attaining goals of the department.
4. Proficiency In use of computer and CMMS in completion of duties and responsibilities.
5. Possession of a Universal Certificate is desired.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable codes and regulations impacting departmental operations.
7. Demonstrated skill in developing and applying preventative maintenance standards for continuous
improvement of departmental operations.

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a motor vehicle license recognized by the State of Arizona is required for this role. This position requires travel between multiple work sites, including the Williams Campus, Pecos Campus, Sun Lakes Center, and other College locations as assigned. The role will involve extended periods of sitting at a desk/computer as well as standing for extended periods, which may include walking long distances. Use of lifts, ladders, and catwalks will be required. Work may occur in all weather conditions and may include exposure to extreme temperatures. Lifting and carrying material loads of 20+ pounds is anticipated, with heavier loads of up to 50+ pounds occurring occasionally. Proper assistance and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided. After-hours response and participation in a rotational on-call schedule are anticipated for this role.
