Our global retailer client is looking to hire an Episodic Development Producer who will oversee projects from development through production and post-production. This role bridges the gap between initial ideas and greenlit projects by ensuring creative, schedule, budget, legal/compliance, and delivery requirements are met throughout the lifecycle of each production.

** PLEASE NOTE: This role is starting out fully onsite in Playa Vista, slight flexibility ***

Additional note: This is an exempt, day rate position!

Responsibilities


Concept Generation

  • Brainstorm original concepts aligned to creative briefs and business objectives.
  • Adapt existing IP, including books, articles, podcasts, and campaign concepts.
  • Identify compelling on-screen talent, including influencers and creators.
  • Serve as a bridge between internal creative teams and external pitch partners, including writers and treatment artists.


Idea Development & Pitch Process

  • Write, edit, and oversee the creation of treatments, pitch decks, and sizzle reels.
  • Present development slates and individual show concepts to creative teams and cross-functional stakeholders.


Script Development

  • Collaborate with screenwriters to develop stories, provide script notes, and refine dialogue and pacing.
  • Ensure creative aligns with stakeholder objectives while maintaining strong storytelling principles.


Market Analysis

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor programming, and evolving content opportunities across networks, streaming platforms, and digital channels.


Talent Management

  • Source, negotiate with, and hire writers, directors, actors, creators, and other creative talent for pilots, presentations, and episodic projects.
  • Partner with Business Affairs, Legal, and external stakeholders throughout the engagement process.


Budgeting & Planning

  • Draft development budgets and production timelines to ensure concepts are financially and logistically feasible.
  • Build production budgets, schedules, cash flows, and cost assumptions.
  • Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Monitor budgets throughout development, production, and post-production, driving corrective action plans as needed.


Production

  • Partner closely with Line Producers to ensure a smooth handoff and successful execution.
  • Oversee production paperwork and compliance, including contracts, insurance, releases, location agreements, union requirements, music cue sheets, and vendor onboarding.
  • Track project financials and production progress throughout prep, principal photography, and post-production.


Post-Production

  • Partner with Post Production Supervisors to ensure smooth handoffs and successful project completion.
  • Track post-production budgets and timelines.
  • Ensure scope changes are documented, approved, and aligned with budget expectations.


Requirements



  • Proven experience as a Development Producer, Bidding Producer, Line Producer, or similar role within film, television, streaming, or branded content.
  • Strong understanding of production workflows, budgeting, scheduling, and post-production processes.
  • Experience creating treatments, pitch decks, and development materials.
  • Familiarity with production management software and budgeting tools.
  • Understanding of union and non-union production environments, including SAG-AFTRA, DGA, and IATSE.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Established network of Los Angeles-based crew, vendors, and production partners.
  • Ability to think strategically, solve problems under pressure, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Media Studies, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours based on production schedules.


Preferred Experience



  • Episodic, unscripted, documentary, branded entertainment, or creator-led content.
  • Working with influencers, creators, and emerging talent.
  • Experience developing content from concept through greenlight and final delivery.
