The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Technician for our Silver Springs, Nevada location. In this role, you will support a multidisciplinary team responsible for designing, manufacturing, and testing innovative automotive solutions. POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist in the design, development, fabrication, modification, and testing of ground vehicles and related equipment. Create, maintain, and apply technical documentation to support vehicle engineering and test programs. Develop and utilize 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, work orders, specifications, and sketches to support the fabrication, repair, modification, and installation of components and systems. Support the development of new vehicle concepts and associated engineering analyses. Conduct automotive testing activities, including test plan development, instrumentation setup, test execution, data collection and analysis, and the preparation of final reports and other technical documentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  1. Test drive vehicles in support of engineering tests or for the purpose of systems diagnosis and assessing vehicle performance.
  2. Ensures maintenance, fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting actions are performed in accordance with test directives or engineering design.
  3. Coordinate with test, engineering, and maintenance personnel to ensure required actions are being performed on schedule and records of same are maintained accordingly.
  4. Interprets technical manuals, design specifications, drawings, etc.
  5. Assist engineers in creating automotive design concepts, drawings, parts lists, and other technical documentation. Computer Aided Design (CAD) and schematic capture drawing experience is a plus.
  6. Develop repairs and modifications of vehicles and equipment in accordance with test directives or engineering instructions.
  7. Communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.
  8. Work with engineering, technicians, management, and customers in recommending design enhancements and productivity improvements.
  9. Supervise and conduct the inspection and measurement of vehicles and components in accordance with test directives or engineering instruction.
  10. Other duties as assigned.



Secondary Functions:



  1. Perform tests in the field in extreme temperature and/or environmental conditions.
  2. Identifies when customer requirements or drawings are not suitable to standard practices and suggests a reasonable solution to achieve the desired outcome.
  3. Operate company vehicles in support of test and engineering operations.
  4. Assist maintenance and fabrication shops with maintenance, modification, and payloading of vehicles.



Pay:

$26 - $35



Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. Engineering Technology degree or high school graduate with equivalent experience.
  2. Ability to interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication/assembly callout requirements.
  3. Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week with varied work shifts.
  4. Must possess a current Driver's License with ability to obtain Nevada Driver's License.
  5. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  6. Must be a detail-oriented person.
  7. Proficient in the use of the MS Office Suite.
  8. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills, expressing ideas clearly and listening to instructions and ideas of others.
  9. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  10. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and rapidly changing business conditions.



Preferred Qualifications:



  1. Experience with automotive systems, subsystems and/or vehicle testing and operation
  2. Background in automotive repair and modification including EVs.
  3. Working knowledge of common shop machines, equipment, and hand tools.
  4. General knowledge of electrical/electronic fabrication equipment, voltage/current/power measurement equipment, and network interface equipment.
  5. Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and drawing analysis tools.



Physical Demands:



  1. Performs tasks in a dedicated shop or in the field as project requirements dictate.
  2. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  3. Must be able to climb onto, work under, and maneuver around vehicles.
  4. Must be able to walk on uneven ground.



Work Environment:

Work will be performed on-site in Silver Springs, Nevada, in a combination of office, outdoor, and shop environments and may be exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise.

Travel:

Travel is not expected for this position.
