Under regular supervision, performs patrol in assigned areas to enforce parking rules and regulations. Performs parking control duties including issuing citations and towing vehicles.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

Essential Job Functions *Daily field enforcement of City ordinances and state statutes related to parking in the City of Clemson. *Monitors assigned area, such as public parking lot or section of City, to issue tickets to overtime parking violators; to include all city managed parking. *Enter violations into parking enforcement software. *Prepares incident reports on activities as required. *Chalks tires of vehicles parked in non-metered spaces; records time; returns at specified intervals to ticket vehicles remaining in spaces illegally. *Maintains contact with general public in the performance of activities; answers questions; provides directions to citizens. *Carries out duties in conformance with Federal, State, County, and City laws and ordinances. *Works on assigned shift using own judgment in deciding course of action being expected to handle difficult situations without assistance. *Maintains normal availability during shift by radio or telephone for consultation on parking issues. *Operates various types of equipment, machinery and tools in the performance of duties such as a police radio, traffic control equipment, etc. *Uses a variety of tools and supplies such as chalk, writing instruments, protective gear, and related materials and supplies. *Monitors pedestrians and drivers of automobiles and bicycles to ensure conformance to crosswalk ordinance. *Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals, such as the immediate supervisor, other departmental officials, co-workers, and the general public.
Additional Job Functions *Provides coverage during staff shortages. *May report missing traffic signals or signs to the superior at the end of the shift. *May help facilitate the removal of inoperable vehicles out of the roadway. *Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses or Certifications: Must possess or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid South Carolina driver's license.
