What to Expect
Battery cells and HV electronic components are foundational to every Tesla product. This role supports ground-up cell and pack architectures by building, maintaining, and validating test equipment in our abuse labs. The fast-paced environment requires passion, self-motivation, strong communication skills, and a team-first mentality while collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines.

What You'll Do
  • Perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on test equipment in the abuse labs
  • Build and validate automated test equipment including electrical controls, data acquisition systems, safety systems, actuators, valves, pumps, and sensors
  • Execute basic metal fabrication including drilling, tapping, cutting, grinding, and manual laser welding using hand tools and instruments
  • Produce or revise test equipment procedures and documentation
  • Support development and testing of new tests and test fixtures
  • Provide support across multiple SF Bay Area locations with occasional travel to sites in Nevada, San Diego, and Austin

What You'll Bring
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and schematics including 3D CAD files
  • Experience with machine tools and fabrication processes
  • Knowledge of fasteners, adhesives, and best practices for hand and power tools
  • Familiarity with automation, PLCs, data acquisition, and electrical controls
  • Ability to wire control panels, PLCs, sensors, and data acquisition equipment
  • Strong awareness of safety hazards and best practices for high-energy systems
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook

    Expected Compensation
    $24.40 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
