Posting Summary
Rutgers University's School of Health Professions ( SHP) invites applications for an open-rank, full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position serving as Program Director of the Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science (MS- CLS) with the Department of Clinical Laboratory and Medical Imaging Sciences ( CLMIS). Major responsibilities are to provide leadership and administration of the program in alignment with the strategic plan of the department and school, including program budget, resource allocation, curricular planning, and assessment. Faculty responsibilities include course development and instruction in remote graduate courses, graduate research advisement, active participation in research, grant writing, and other scholarly activities, and service to the university, school, and professional community.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall coordination of the MS-CLS program and participate in meetings at SHP, RBHS, Rutgers University, and collaborating departments.
  • Communicate regularly with the CLMIS Chair and Division leadership regarding program operations.
  • Administer SHP, CLMIS, and MS-CLS policies related to program and student matters.
  • Maintain MS-CLS program records of active and inactive MS-CLS students, graduate certificate students, academic files, and program documentation and files.
  • Provide program data, including enrollment, courses, and activities, for departmental reporting.
  • Assign faculty advisors for student registration and graduate project mentors.
  • Collaborate with faculty teaching IDST 6400 to assign CLS content advisors.
  • Collaborate with the CLMIS Chair and DCLS Program Director to plan and coordinate faculty resources and budget needs annually.
  • Collaborate on curriculum review and revision for MS-CLS and Graduate Certificate programs.
  • Ensure submission and tracking of new or revised courses through required approval processes (e.g., CCCR).
  • Update course descriptions and graduation requirements documentation as needed, including necessary learning management system management.
  • Develop and maintain multi-year course scheduling plans and manage semester scheduling updates.
  • Communicate schedule changes to students and update tracking systems.
  • Orient new students to the program and assist with enrollment and onboarding.
  • Participate in program assessment, accreditation activities, committees, and
    institutional service.
  • Engage in teaching, research, scholarly activity, and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with Rutgers, Rutgers Health Corporate Compliance policies, Code of
    Conduct, and Conflict of Interest policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience
Required Qualifications:


  • Doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, EdD, DCLS, or MD with clinical pathology/laboratory
    medicine experience).
  • Current U.S. professional certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS, ASCP) or
    equivalent.
