THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports pharmacy services within a long term care environment by assisting with medication preparation, inventory duties, and documentation tasks. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will perform the following duties:

  • Prescription Support: Receive, prepare, fill, and document prescriptions, including controlled substances under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist
  • Inventory Control: Maintain stock levels, process orders, locate outdated pharmaceuticals, and track requisitions and purchases
  • Medication Processing: Enter medication orders, update profiles, and bill third parties for dispensed medications
  • Emergency Supplies: Replenish and maintain emergency drug boxes to ensure readiness
  • Record Management: Handle files, reports, and medication documentation using required software
  • Clerical Support: Perform required inventories and assist with quality improvement activities across the center

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience assisting a licensed pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications in a hospital pharmacy; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a Pharmacy Technician license.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
