Description

The Database Administrator will design, install, monitor, maintain, and optimize Network Health Plan databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures that ensure the security, integrity and performance of databases and their accompanying software. The position plays a key role in enforcing organizational standards for change management, code deployment and promotion to production environments.

Location: Candidates must reside in the state of Wisconsin for consideration. This position is eligible to work at your home office (reliable internet is required). Travel to the Menasha location is required occasionally for the position, including on first day.

Hours: 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday

Job Responsibilities:



  • Implement and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases. Collaborate with application development staff to develop appropriate database architectures, coding standards and quality assurance procedures
  • Participate in installation, configuration and testing of database systems (new and upgrades). Consult with infrastructure staff, developers, QA and others as needed to assess the impact of new database releases and patches
  • Monitor performance of database systems, including stored procedures and execution time. Optimize database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
  • Develop and implement effective data backup and recovery plans, storage and archiving processes, replication strategies and disaster recovery procedures
  • Control access permissions and privileges to maintain data integrity and security
  • Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems
  • Provide long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company, optimum access techniques, appropriate maintenance plans, and effective capacity planning
  • Assist IT Production Control team by performing code deployments and helping configure job schedules
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge, including industry best practices. Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development


Job Requirements



  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in an Information Technology (IT) discipline or related field
  • 5 years of MS-SQL experience, including SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Experience with SQL Server in Azure (PaaS/SaaS), including Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance, with skills in deployment, monitoring, performance tuning, and security
  • 2 years' experience in a database administration role
