As anInpatientOccupational Therapist,you willbe responsible for initialevaluation, reevaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation,reporting,and documentation of all referred patients within departmental and professional standards. Provideseffective and efficientevidence-basedcare.Providespatient care duties as it relates to occupational therapy following accreditation guidelines, licensing regulations, professional code of ethics, and standards of practice to includingevaluation/re-evaluation, treatment planning,DME (Durable Medical Equipment)recommendations and discharge planning.Provideseducation to and training to patients and their families/caregivers. Accessesappropriate additionalinformation for individualized patient care. Demonstrates sound clinical reasoning during patient care to maximize effective and safe outcomes. Completesaccurateandtimelydocumentation. Maintainsaccurateandtimelydocumentation to include clinical interventions provided, discharge and equipment recommendations, charges, and prescriptions.
Ensures documentation reflectsneedfor acute rehab level of care to include patient/ familyeducation, training,treatmentintensityand duration. Follows Medstar National RehabilitationHospitaldocumentation policy and writes legible comprehensive conference reports, patient flowsheets, time offchecklistsand all other written documentsin a timely manner. Completes outcome data according to department guidelines.Maintainsaccurateschedules for all patients and professional activities. Utilizes professional communication in decision making and problem solving, consistently communicates & conducts self in a professional manner and uses written, verbal, and non-verbal communication,appropriate tothe specific audience.
Participates in development and implementation of goals andobjectivesfor the program area as delegated by Clinical Supervisor or Management.Participates inin services and continuing education programs. Disseminates continuing education information to staff and students. Participates in ongoing clinical and administrative system development, data collection, and process improvement to assureoptimalfunctioning of service area andparticipatesin peer review, program evaluation, and process improvement activities on a regular basis and for special projects.
Assistsin developing,revising,or reviewing treatment guidelines in specialtyareasas delegated by the Clinical Supervisor or Management and serves as Clinical Instructor for OT/COTA students and volunteers.
