| Job Summary |
The
Brain Circuits Laboratory, led by Drs. Steven Small and Ana Solodkin, is seeking a highly motivated Lab Technician interested in the computational modeling for early diagnosis of Alzheimer Disease.
This position will utilize model-based and model free metrics as individual fingerprinting for early diagnosis in dementia specially in Alzheimer Disease. The approach seeks to assess brain dynamics to provide a mechanistic assessment in converters to AD. The modeling approach will utilize
The Virtual Brain neuroinformatics platform. The work entails significant effort in computational neuroscience and biophysics. This position is tied to the North Texas Alzheimer Disease Research Center and is funded by the
NIH.
The
Solodkin/Small Brain Circuits Laboratory is located in the Texas Instruments Biomedical Engineering and Sciences Building on the campus of UT Southwestern Medical Center. Address: 2336 Inwood Rd, Dallas, TX 75235. The lab benefits from close proximity to world-class research facilities, including:
- The UT Dallas Center for BrainHealth (featuring two Siemens Prisma 3T MRI systems)
- The UT Dallas Center for Vital Longevity, a leading institute for brain aging research
- The Advanced Imaging Research Center at UT Southwestern (housing a 7T MRI scanner and a MEG unit)
- The Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center

| Minimum Education and Experience |
Associate degree with a minimum of two years hands on experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. |

- Candidates with a strong background in brain imaging, computational neuroscience, and/or biophysics.

| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |

- Provide technical support for the laboratories
- Running a laboratory (i.e., scheduling, record-keeping, etc.) and interacting with human subjects
- Manage data analysis, brain imaging, multivariate image analysis
- Help manage undergraduate research assistants
- Other duties as assigned
Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of human clinical research, cognitive and motor testing, and brain imaging
- Ability to perform brain imaging analysis, including scripting and coding
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to conduct research activities and make decisions according to ethical standards

Remote Work: Intermittently possible but not consistent. Following the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a partial hybrid work schedule (a combination of remote and in-office work), subject to business needs and manager approval. The selected candidate must reside within the Dallas-Fort Worth (
DFW) area and be able to report to campus with 24 hours' notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement must be completed within 14 days of approval.
