Job Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing detailed inspections of in-process and completed products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements. This role focuses on the inspection of wire harnesses, cable assemblies, electromechanical assemblies, and related components within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate possesses extensive wire harness inspection experience, strong print-reading skills, and a thorough understanding of IPC-WHMA-A-620 standards. The Quality Inspector utilizes various measuring tools and inspection techniques to identify defects, verify workmanship, and determine product acceptance or rejection.

Job Responsibilities



  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process and completed wire harnesses, cable assemblies, electromechanical assemblies, and related products.
  • Inspect products for workmanship, structural defects, missing components, assembly discrepancies, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, wire harness prints, specifications, inspection instructions, and customer requirements.
  • Utilize measuring devices, gauges, micrometers, scales, fixtures, and other inspection tools to verify product conformity.
  • Identify defects and determine acceptance, rejection, or rework requirements based on established quality standards and criteria.
  • Verify compliance with IPC-WHMA-A-620 requirements and applicable manufacturing standards.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to quality issues.
  • Monitor product quality throughout manufacturing processes and verify compliance with established procedures.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to resolve product and process issues.
  • Ensure adherence to quality management systems, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality and manufacturing efficiency.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 4 years of wire harness inspection experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience applying IPC-WHMA-A-620 standards required.
  • IPC-WHMA-A-620 certification preferred; equivalent hands-on experience required.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret wire harness prints, schematics, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience with cable and wire harness assembly processes required.
  • Experience performing quality inspections, defect identification, acceptance and rejection evaluations, and quality documentation required.
  • Proficiency using measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to identify workmanship defects and verify compliance with customer and industry standards.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person and able to work onsite.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of 4 years of wire harness inspection experience required.
  • Experience with IPC-WHMA-A-620 standards and inspection practices required.
  • Experience with cable and wire harness assembly manufacturing required.
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience inspecting electromechanical assemblies preferred.
  • Experience with J-STD standards preferred.
  • Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620 Space Addendum preferred.
  • Experience supporting quality inspection activities for aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Prior experience working for major aerospace or defense contractors is a plus.
