Job Summary

The Merchandiser is responsible for servicing retail accounts by ensuring products are properly stocked, displayed, rotated, and presented in accordance with company merchandising standards. This role supports sales growth by maintaining product availability, building strong customer relationships, identifying merchandising opportunities, and executing in-store programs. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a professional presence in retail environments. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting overall sales and merchandising objectives.

Job Responsibilities



  • Service assigned retail accounts by maintaining proper product inventory levels and merchandising standards.
  • Ensure products are stocked, rotated, and displayed in accordance with established product rotation and freshness guidelines.
  • Minimize out-of-code, damaged, and out-of-stock product occurrences through proactive inventory management.
  • Maintain and organize displays, coolers, shelving, and merchandising equipment to company standards.
  • Ensure company equipment is clean, operational, and presented professionally.
  • Execute merchandising programs, promotional displays, and in-store marketing initiatives.
  • Monitor competitor activities, including product launches, pricing changes, and merchandising strategies, and communicate findings to sales leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to increase product placement, display space, and sales volume within assigned accounts.
  • Notify sales representatives of inventory issues, damaged products, out-of-stock situations, and merchandising opportunities.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with store managers, department managers, and retail personnel.
  • Support sales teams with new product launches, promotions, and large display executions.
  • Maintain required records and documentation in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Utilize smartphone-based applications and reporting tools to complete daily activities and reporting requirements.
  • Travel between assigned retail locations and maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Perform additional merchandising and customer service duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior merchandising, retail, customer service, sales support, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to present information effectively and interact professionally with customers and team members.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong mathematical and inventory management skills.
  • Strong observational and analytical skills for evaluating inventory levels and merchandising opportunities.
  • Proficiency with smartphone technology and mobile applications.
  • Ability to follow merchandising standards and execute promotional programs accurately.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Reliable personal vehicle available for work-related travel.
  • Ability to maintain required vehicle insurance coverage.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Additional language skills are a plus.


Education



  • High school diploma or GED required.


Work Experience



  • Prior merchandising experience preferred.
  • Retail, sales support, customer service, inventory management, or route-based service experience preferred.
  • Experience working independently in customer-facing environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting promotional programs, product displays, and merchandising initiatives preferred.
