Job Title: Vice President, Income Tax
Location: New York, NY (4 days onsite)
Compensation: $230,000 - $290,000 + 15% bonus

Position Overview

A highly visible, newly created leadership role responsible for building and overseeing the company's income tax function. This individual will take ownership of tax strategy, reporting, and compliance, transitioning key responsibilities from external providers to an in-house model.

The role operates at the intersection of Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and Legal, and will play a critical role in supporting business initiatives, including M&A, legal entity structuring, and global expansion. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring both strategic oversight and direct execution.

Must Haves (Required for Consideration)

* CPA required
* 15-20+ years of progressive tax experience across public accounting and industry
* Prior ownership of an income tax function (Head of Tax, VP, or Director level with end-to-end responsibility)
* Deep expertise in income tax accounting, including ASC 740 / tax provision
* Strong experience with domestic and international tax, including transfer pricing
* Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing tax provisions, disclosures, and close activities
* Proven experience working with external auditors and tax advisors (Big 4 background strongly preferred)
* Ability to operate in a hands-on capacity (not purely delegating)
* Must be based in or able to work onsite in New York City

Key Responsibilities

* Own and lead all aspects of the income tax function, including tax provision, compliance, reporting, and planning
* Manage and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740
* Oversee domestic and international tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions
* Lead transfer pricing strategies and ensure appropriate documentation and compliance
* Partner closely with external tax advisors and auditors; manage and optimize co-sourced relationships
* Support financial close processes, including preparation and review of tax-related disclosures
* Provide strategic tax guidance on business initiatives, including M&A, restructuring, and intercompany transactions
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and Legal teams
* Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess impact on the organization (e.g., global minimum tax / Pillar II)
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce close timelines, and optimize cash tax position
* Prepare and present tax-related materials to senior leadership and the Audit Committee

Preferred Qualifications

* Blend of Big 4/public accounting and corporate tax leadership experience
* Experience building or transforming a tax function, including optimizing outsourced/co-sourced models
* Strong technical expertise in book-to-tax differences and income tax disclosures
* Experience managing global tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions
* Exposure to tax planning related to M&A, legal entity structuring, and intercompany transactions
* Familiarity with evolving global tax regulations (e.g., Pillar II)
* Experience working in a matrixed organization with cross-functional stakeholders
* Background in retail, consumer products, or a related industry is a plus

Additional Considerations

* This is a hands-on leadership role; candidates must be comfortable with both execution and oversight
* Strong ownership of income tax provision and reporting is essential
* International tax and transfer pricing experience are critical
* This role will manage and optimize external tax providers rather than fully replace them
* Candidates should be comfortable presenting to senior leadership and contributing at a strategic level
