Job Overview:

The Project Manager III is a senior-level professional responsible for independently managing and delivering high-impact, cross-functional pump product development projects. This role provides mentorship and leadership to junior project managers and team members, and plays a key role in shaping and optimizing project management practices at Thomas and Welch Pumps. The Project Manager III collaborates closely with executive leadership to align project execution with business strategy.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale, complex pump product development projects from concept through commercialization

  • Mentors a team of project managers and project coordinators, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for best practices in project management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement

  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance project management methodologies, tools, and templates across the organization

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among engineering, manufacturing, quality, marketing, supply chain, and external partners

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, resource allocations, and schedules for multiple concurrent projects

  • Proactively identify and resolve project risks, issues, and bottlenecks, escalating to executive leadership as needed

  • Lead project governance activities, including design reviews, gate meetings, and post-launch analyses

  • Communicate project status, key decisions, and strategic recommendations to senior management and stakeholders

  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence within the project management team

  • Represent the company in customer meetings, industry forums, and cross-company initiatives as needed



Requirements:


  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field (Masters degree strongly preferred)

  • 8+ years of progressive project management experience minimum in product development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior project management role, preferably in pumps, fluid handling, or related manufacturing industries

  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and process improvement

  • Proficiency with advanced project management software and tools

  • Deep understanding of product development lifecycle, engineering change management, and manufacturing operations

  • Ability to influence and build consensus across all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering large-scale, complex product development projects

  • Extensive experience mentoring, coaching, or managing project teams

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Stage-Gate, Lean, etc.)

  • Experience leading process improvement or change management initiatives

  • Ability to work strategically and tactically in a fast-paced, evolving environment




Preferences:


  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred; Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement certification highly desirable

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple, high-complexity projects simultaneously




Travel Expectations:


  • Willingness to Travel: Availability to travel up to 25 % of the time (e.g., customer visits, training at our technical centers, trade shows, etc.).




Pay Range:
The base compensation for this role is $100,000 - $125,000. The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location. Hired applicant will be eligible to receive (discretionary/nondiscretionary) annual bonuses and incentive compensation.
