ABOUT THE JOB:
The Senior Indirect Tax Analyst role is a key role within WillScot responsible for overseeing all aspects of business license tax compliance and participating in day-to-day indirect tax matters. This position will lead US business license tax compliance - while assisting with sales and use tax, personal property tax, real estate tax, VAT, excise, and other transaction-based taxes - and aiding to drivingautomation and efficiency initiatives to optimize overall indirect tax processes. Customer taxexemptions will also be a job responsibility. The role requires a blend of technical tax expertise, technology acumen, and leadership and communication skills to ensure compliance, efficiency, andscalability in a dynamic business environment.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Indirect Tax Leadership * Develop and execute US indirect tax strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatoryrequirements. * Oversee business license compliance for all Indirect Tax obligations (state and local for US) acrossjurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate filings. * Daily review and processing of customer tax exemption certificates. * Assist with monthly Indirect Tax account reconciliations and internal/external SOX controlrequirements. Oversee application and processing of customer tax exemptions certificates andissuance of tax exemption certificates to vendors. * Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on business operations; implement necessaryprocess updates. Resolve any issues with state and local taxing authorities. * Partner with Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to manage tax risk and support businessinitiatives. * Assist with all Indirect Tax audits.
Tax Technology & Process Optimization * Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of tax technology solutions (e.g., ERP taxengines, automation tools, data analytics platforms). * Drive digital transformation projects to streamline indirect tax processes and enhance dataaccuracy. * Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve tax reporting andcompliance. * Establish governance and controls for tax systems and data integrity. Stakeholder Engagement * Collaborate with external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities as needed. * Communicate complex tax and technology concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Development * Demonstrate a culture and willingness for continuous improvement and collaboration across globaltax and finance teams. * Develop training programs to enhance technical and technology skills within the tax organizationand internal stakeholders. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance Taxation or related field; advanced degree or CPA preferred. Minimum two (2) years progressive experience in indirect tax; Big 4 CPA firm or Corporate Taxpreferred. Experience with multi-national corporations required. Strong working knowledge of tax technology platforms (i.e., Vertex, Avalara, SAP, Oracle) and ERPsystems preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities: Experience leading technology implementation projects and process automation initiatives. US Business License Tax compliance experience. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment. Knowledge of customer tax exemption documentation and validation. Strong working knowledge of Indirect Tax laws and regulations, compliance requirements andBusiness License reporting and requirements. Strong proficiency with data analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau) for tax reporting. Understanding of emerging tax technologies and trends such as AI and RPA in tax processes.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, walk, etc., for office environment; ability to be on phones majority of business day.
Work Environment: This is an in office role; not hybrid.
