Job Title: Senior Quality Technician

Location: Amesbury, MA

Company: Munters

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-4:30 PM

Salary: $25.97/hr. - $39.24/hr.

Position Overview/Summary:

Support business objectives and initiatives of the Amesbury Quality and Lean Team. Perform incoming inspection work, read blueprints and specifications to ensure that operations meet production standards, recommending any necessary adjustments and changes to process, perform testing, quarantine product that do not meet production standards, and conduct product/process inspections at random to assess operational quality. Support the development and implementation of ideas for product/process enhancements and assure the proper function of systems and processes. Apply quality expertise and/or support to other departments, as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assume a role of indirect authority to guide and instruct others to help assure smooth operations.
  • Frequent engagement at the gemba (regular gemba walks)
    • Ensures work area is in a state of readiness, neat, clean, and orderly.
    • Inspect and test incoming and in-process materials.
    • Take and record various process measurements and process parameters (e.g., pH).
    • Perform in-process inspections, use checklists, and file documentation.
    • Participate in Team Gemba Walks.
    • Perform Quality Walks and inspections at random to assess product quality.
    • Quarantine products that don't meet production standards.
    • Accept or reject finished products and discuss inspection results with the production team.
    • Recommend adjustments and changes to production processes.
    • Keep material flowing in support of production without undue delays.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Read blueprints and specifications to ensure that products/operations meet production standards.
  • Use gauges such as a micrometer or calipers to measure parts.
  • Timely calibration of gauges and equipment; coordinate external calibration vendor as applicable.
  • Scan and file records.
  • Support overtime from time to time to accommodate shipments or process needs.
  • Promotes and lives the Munters Core Values.
  • Complete company-assigned training, as required.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Strong customer focus.

  • Experience with ISO 9001 and/or other industry standards.
  • Previous experience leading Quality and/or Operations teams.

  • Experience with a wide array of Quality systems and tools.
  • Experience with metal forming, chemical, and/or assembly processes.
  • Quality, ISO, ASQ, SAE, or other technical certifications.
  • Motivated, confident, and persistent in meeting team goals.
  • Able to independently flex between competing priorities to keep improvement activities moving.
  • Curious, life learner.
  • Computer aptitude; Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • 3 years Quality or 10+ years of manufacturing in a high-mix, low volume environment, or 5+ years experience in a chemical process

Physical Demands:

  • Periodically push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, grasp, and reach.
  • Excellent memory (memorization and recall), visual and listening acuity to perform activities such as:
    • Preparing and analyzing data and figures,
    • Information transcription,
    • Viewing a computer terminal,
    • Extensive and expansive reading,
    • Visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines,
    • Using measurement devices, and/or
    • Inspection of processes or parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Able to wear proper protective and safety equipment, such as glasses and gloves, as required.
