Employees in the Engineer I/II position solve problems in engineering areas of specialization with close supervision. An Engineer I/II is expected to develop skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer I/II has knowledge of fundamental concepts and procedures. The position is part of the Substation Engineering - Civil Engineering Team within the Carolinas West region of Duke Energy. This position and the team are located in the Duke Energy Plaza in Charlotte, NC. The team is responsible for a wide variety of Civil Engineering activities associated with Transmission Substations including, but not limited to, the following:
This Civil Engineer position is expected to have an elevated understanding of structural and foundation design principles. Ideally, the candidate would have obtained design/analysis experience through advanced-level coursework and/or student worker experience. This skill set will enable them to support and design planned project work, troubleshoot various Civil-related issues that arise across our region, and actively support the growth and improvement of the Civil Team.
