You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering teams to design and deliver secure, scalable healthcare technology solutions leveraging cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and AI/ML capabilities
  • Define and execute engineering strategy aligned with UHG/Optum business goals, focusing on improving patient outcomes, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee architecture and modernization of platforms, including cloud-native, data, and AI-driven solutions for healthcare analytics and operations
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and enterprise security standards across all engineering initiatives
  • Drive adoption of AI/ML, automation, and data engineering practices to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with product, clinical, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative, value-driven healthcare solutions
  • Build and mentor high-performing, diverse teams while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Establish governance, KPIs, and engineering excellence practices to ensure reliable, high-quality delivery at scale

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership roles, preferably in healthcare or regulated industries
  • Solid experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including cloud-native architecture and modernization
  • Proven experience in implementing AI/ML solutions, Knowledge of card based payements, or advanced analytics in enterprise environments
  • Experience managing onshore-offshore teams and working with cross-functional stakeholders (business, clinical, product)
  • Deep understanding of healthcare data, compliance (HIPAA), and security standards
    Demonstrated success in leading large-scale, complex technology programs in an enterprise setting
  • Proven solid leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills with a focus on innovation and measurable outcomes

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $134,600 to $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
