Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is a leading anti-poverty organization serving neighbors in need across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester. Through 70+ programs, we support over 35,000 adults and children each year, including individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, youth aging out of foster care, veterans, seniors, and children with developmental delays.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Operation Backpack Intern (Summer 2026) (Paid Internship Role)

Make a direct impact on the lives of New York City students experiencing homelessness.

Join Volunteers of America-Greater New York's Operation Backpack, an annual campaign that provides thousands of children with backpacks and school supplies before the start of the school year. Last year, we provided more than 24,000 NYC students with backpacks stocked with essential school supplies, helping them start the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

What You'll Do:

• Assist with warehouse and donation logistics
• Sort and organize backpacks and school supplies
• Coordinate and support large volunteer groups
• Help manage a fast-paced, high-impact community initiative

What We're Looking For:

• Reliable, flexible, and team-oriented individuals
• Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving donations (training provided)

Location: Manhattan (601 W 26th St, New York, NY 10001)

Duration: Mid-July through Late August (~7 weeks)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 35 hours/week

Compensation: $18/hour
