Lead Financial Analyst

This position is a strategic corporate finance role supporting KeyCorp's overall financial performance, with direct responsibility for helping drive the financial performance of the Consumer Bank Line of Business, specifically Business Banking. This team is continuing to grow and will play a key role in supporting new investment areas within Business Banking.

This role provides critical financial management, forecasting, and strategic analysis support to help craft the financial performance narrative of the business and how it contributes to KeyCorp's broader financial results and strategy. This individual will have exposure not only to Business Banking, but also to adjacent lines of business including Retail and Commercial Banking, creating a more diversified and enterprise-wide view of performance.

Strong partnering skills and effective communication are essential, as this individual will work closely with senior leaders across the Line of Business, Finance, and other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, technical, and dynamic environment with the ability to provide solutions and analysis with limited direction, while taking ownership of core financial processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Financial Management & Analytical Excellence

  • Develop and enhances driver-based forecast models to predict financial performance under different scenarios, with a strong focus on understanding key Business Banking drivers and reducing reliance on qualitative overlays
  • Owns and supports the monthly forecast process with Line of Business partners, including running the financial books, maintaining oversight of performance versus Plan and historical trends, and proactively identifying risks and opportunities
  • Leads core month-end close reporting activities, including variance analysis and insights into impacts on forward-looking performance
  • Builds and enhances reporting across key deliverables including scorecards and Business Unit Reviews (BUR), with ongoing focus on continuous improvement and reporting enhancements
  • Develops and refine reporting such as travel reporting, bluebooks, and business case analysis to support decision-making and strategic investments
  • Understands macroeconomic factors that impact the business and translates those trends into clear financial implications for Business Banking performance
  • Utilizes analytics to create linkages across different client or product sets to provide insight into profitability and behavior across cohorts
  • Creates reporting to track progress relative to strategic initiatives and provides perspective on external benchmarks for business performance

Partner Management & Strategic Support

  • Serves as a strategic finance partner to the Business Banking Senior Leadership team, providing transparency into financial performance and key business drivers
  • Partners across Finance and Line of Business teams, including interactions with Retail and Commercial partners, provide insight into performance relative to strategic priorities and key metrics
  • Presents to senior leadership on a monthly or quarterly basis with a focus on translating business driver trends into forward-looking financial risks and opportunities
  • Proactively reviews financial and client activity, elevating key themes and insights for monthly business reviews and leadership discussions

Business Operations & Optimization

  • Owns and improves end-to-end financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, control, and scalability of outputs
  • Continuously identifies opportunities to enhance, streamline, or eliminate inefficient reporting and manual processes, with a strong focus on automation and process optimization
  • Supports ongoing enhancements to BUR, scorecards, and broader reporting infrastructure to improve usability and insight delivery
  • Applies a technical mindset to improve data flows, reporting structures, and overall financial systems utilization

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or a related finance function, ideally supporting a line of business
  • Strong understanding of bank financial statements including P&L and balance sheet, with the ability to connect financial results to underlying business drivers
  • Demonstrated ability to run forecasts, manage financial reporting, and take ownership of core finance processes
  • Technical aptitude with strong foundation in financial and reporting tools, with the ability to work in data-heavy environments
  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to think critically and operate independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence and partner across multiple teams
  • Proven team player who contributes to a collaborative, high-performing environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Co-Pilot)
  • Experience working with financial systems and reporting environments (e.g., Workday Financials, Adaptive Planning, Essbase, TM1, Cognos)
  • Experience with Tableau or similar visualization tools preferred

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $63,000.00 - $96,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
