Description

University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is looking for compassionate nurses to join our Wound Care Team. Our team provides specialized care for patients with wound and ostomy conditions.

Some of the essential functions of the Wound and Ostomy Nurse include:

* Provides consultation for individual patients with altered skin integrity (e.g., pressure injuries, draining wounds, fistulas, and percutaneous tubes) to develop individualized plans of care and expected outcomes.

* Provides guidance to staff in implementing protocols to identify, control, or eliminate etiologic factors for skin breakdown, including the selection of appropriate support surfaces.

* Provides pre- and postoperative education to patients and families undergoing ostomy surgery, with consideration for both physical and psychological adaptation needs.

* Collaborates with Nursing Education to provide education related to skin, wound, and ostomy care for new employees, as well as ongoing education for existing staff

POSITION SUMMARY:

* Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates wound, ostomy and continence care throughout inpatient/outpatient areas and supports outpatient stomal clinics where available. Functions primarily as a clinical consultant, provide direct patient care and education to complex patients and provides staff educational program in areas of expertise.

* Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.
