These ranges reflect what BNSF Railway reasonably expects to pay for this position, based on the role's level, scope, and responsibilities. Final compensation and position level will be determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay and bonus eligibility, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide 7x24 hour support of train control and dispatchoperations,ranging from maintenance activities to real time critical system problem resolution.
  • Provide support of Train Management Dispatch System to operating department and other supporting departments by identifying, investigating, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for various types of railexceptions
  • Provide support of various components of Train Control operations including Centralized Traffic Control (CTC), Track Warrant Control (TWC), Remote Control Power Switch (RCPS), Switch Point Monitor Systems(SPMS),Track Integrity Warning Systems (TIWS), Positive Train Control (PTC) and Smart Mobile Client (SMC)
  • Provide support for Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) operations which utilize various communication code protocols such as ATCS, ARES, Genisys, MCS and K-code delivered via various transmission systems including,modems,lease lines, RF, andmicrowave
  • Provide support of new technology dispatch function and delivery for non-traditional Command and Control or monitor systems for dispatchoperations
  • Provide support of the safety Hy-Rail Limits Compliances system (HLCS) by investigating exceptions and providing detailed analysis of exceptions and rules compliance
  • Provide support for maintaining and operations of dispatching workstations, various train control servers, remote dispatcher workstations, and mobile clients
  • Provide support for PTC wayside validations
  • Establish short-range objectives for and assign responsibilities to office maintenance personnel
  • Directly supervise the 7x24 control signal electronic technicians so that established objectives will be met
  • Determine that all policies and procedures have received compliance by subordinate personnel
  • Render technical advice and assistance when required by to representatives of other departments of train control and dispatch operations
  • Provide various official and legal information for various department pertaining train control and dispatching operations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Either a Bachelor's degree, OR a minimum 3 years of equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience managing systems or personnel in support of systems
  • Able to work 24/7 as required to meet customer and business needs includingnights,weekends and holidays
  • Willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with the possibility of being on-call at times when needed
  • Willing to work extra hours to meet deadlines and assisting when needed outside normal work hours
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, including effective oral and written communication skills, managerial and leadershipability
  • Able to collaborate with other departments in problem resolution
  • Able to read and interpret information and provide analysis for different levels of management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in technology related discipline
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Signal Instructions&Operations, Train Control Systems, Computer Aided dispatchingapplications.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in railway signaling or engineering is desirable
  • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft CoPilot. Also proficient in the daily use of the Microsoft Office applications, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of the use and creation of queries with Splunk software, use of VSphere, VMware, and any additional programming skills are preferred
  • Advanced skill with the setting up, maintenance, security, troubleshooting, and creation of security certificates, for Windows Servers
  • Proficient with the setup and use of Microsoft Windows Server 2022 or greater is highly desirable
  • Advanced skill in Networking and the ability of the use of network related tools such as Wireshark
