Salary: The previously determined salary range for this position was $58,000 to $61,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.

Position Summary
The Visiting Research Associate I supports community-engaged and applied research activities within the Division of AIM. The position reports the Principal Investigator (PI) and provides research, data, outreach, and administrative support for externally funded projects, including The Young And A Survivor (YAAS!) Network for Health Among Young Breast Cancer Survivors, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-funded collaborative initiative.

The YAAS! project focuses on expanding availability and access to supportive services for young breast cancer survivors, young women with metastatic breast cancer, and their families and caregivers. The Visiting Research Associate I contributes to the implementation of community outreach, participant engagement, data collection, dissemination of findings, and coordination with academic and community partners in support of the project's goals.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Participates in community-based and applied research activities in collaboration with research staff and community partners.
  • Assists with recruitment and engagement of research participants and supports community outreach efforts related to the YAAS! project and other research initiatives.
  • Supports collection, organization, entry, and maintenance of research and programmatic data in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assists with preparation of summaries, progress reports, and supporting documentation for internal review and external stakeholders, including funding agencies.
  • Maintains accurate research records; tracks project activities; and compiles resource information relevant to community members and partner organizations.
  • Assists with dissemination of project and research findings through reports, presentations, and culturally and linguistically appropriate materials, as directed.
  • Coordinates with university departments, external research sites, and community-based organizations to support implementation of research and outreach activities.
  • Provides logistical and administrative support for meetings, trainings, community events, and special activities associated with research projects.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required.
  • Knowledge of fundamental research concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Entry level knowledge of research methods.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years of experience supporting community health programs, community-based research, public health initiatives, or related activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including community partners and research teams.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, health advocacy groups, or cancer survivorship programs.
  • Familiarity with Chicago communities and neighborhoods.
  • Experience supporting communications or outreach activities, including use of social media or digital platforms for engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including community partners and research teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain organized records, and meet established deadlines.
  • Proficiency with standard office and data management software.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
