About the Job
Position Overview A temp/casual Marketing & Communication Generalist position is open in the School of Social Work in the College of Education and Human Development. A person in this position is expected to implement marketing strategies, create advertisement and promotions, develop internal communications and strategies, as well as work on creation of a SSW intranet site with digital accessibility at the forefront. Create internal content in relation event coordination, newsletter standardization, and other communications as needed.

Job Responsibilities Writing & Communication (40%)
- Provide assistance in implementing and evaluating a communication plan for the school's internal communication needs.
- Make independent decisions and recommendations on how information is best communicated to internal and audiences.
- Write and edit content for the school.
- Develop content for editorial projects to include newsletters.
- Develop accessible newsletter and communication mechanisms.
Intranet & Media (30%)
- Support SSW faculty, staff, and center projects for the SSW Intranet.
- Complete creation of SSW intranet page and link to corresponding intranet pages for centers.
- Work with the college web team and communications office as needed to deliver content.
- Create tickets for college support of projects.
Branding & Marketing (20%)
- Implement Social Work brand strategy including brand style guide for SSW.
- Work to expand digital outreach with audiences to include social media.
- Provide consultation to departmental staff as to when printed materials are necessary.
- Execute department policies for branding and monitor brand use.
- Solicit feedback from current and prospective audiences to refine communication and branding strategies.
Other (10%)
- Participate in university, collegiate, and school-wide committees.
- Seek training to remain current.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.
- BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with applications such as Drupal, WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Salesforce.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a marketing role in a university or campus setting.

About the School of Social Work Founded in 1917 on Dakota homeland, the School of Social Work at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities is part of a public, research-intensive university and one of seven administrative units in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). The School offers several graduate and undergraduate educational programs including: a PhD in Social Work; a Master of Social Work; a Master of Education in Youth Development Leadership; a Bachelor of Science in Youth Studies, and undergraduate minors in Family Violence Prevention, Social Justice, and Youth Studies. Underlying all these multidisciplinary programs is a social justice value base and a commitment to the most vulnerable and marginalized populations in our society. Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $35.60 - $40; depending on education/qualifications/experience. Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications. Learn more about retirement plans.
