SCOPE OF POSITION: This position provides administrative support for the Shelter to keep operations functioning efficiently. These duties may include many forms of administrative duties to support the Admin Team. Part of the purpose of this position is to secure funds through research, proposal writing, and creating materials to support fundraising from foundations and corporate relations. This may also include media development for awareness development. Grant support may include grant research, monitoring, tracking and/or grant coding support for the programs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge required: Strong computer Skills in an on-site work environment, use of standard office machines. High level writing, must be able to draft, edit and write professional level communications. Use standard office practices and procedures; read, write, and speak the English language to express ideas and communicate effectively for grant applications. Have an fluent and nuanced understanding of the English language and English writing rules. Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel. SKILL REQUIRED: Perform data entry using database programs; use Microsoft software (primarily Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams; occasionally PowerPoint) to correctly create basic documents (notes, memos, emails) and reports; use Moderate level math (add, subtract, multiply, divide); establish effective working relationships; attention to detail is essential, operate a motor vehicle as needed. ABILITY REQUIRED: Interact with staff and/or individuals using generally accepted business behaviors and standards. Use interpersonal skills to deal effectively with others in favorable and unfavorable situations. Organize, prioritize, and plan their own daily work and assigned tasks. Create and maintain a working calendar that includes many due dates for a variety of systems. Multitask, i.e., change work focus or respond to change of conditions and interruptions in workflow. Learn new systems and procedures. Problem-solve one's daily activities (the ability to identify problems and find effective solutions). Must be self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information. Must complete the 40-hour mandatory Domestic Violence training required for all employees. Complete any training required for programmatic outcomes and compliance. Bachelors of Nonprofit Administration (preferred)
Experience
Any equivalent combination of training and experience equaling 3-5 years of working in Administrative, grant writing or non-profit fundraising involvement. Inclusive of one year of professional Writing Experience, copy editing or other professional writing experience. (required)
