Description

Job Title: Thrift Store Supervisor

FLSA Status: Full Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Manager

Schedule: 40 hours per week Monday- Saturday overtime as needed.
Supervises: Sales Associates, Production Lead, Driver, Associates and volunteers

Rate of Pay: $20 per hour

Closing Date: 6/6/2026

Benefits: Standard; Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:



  • Health, vision, dental, life as well as voluntary life and disability insurance
  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire)
  • Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment)
  • One floating day off for use (accrued immediately, and again annually, but may not be used until the completion of the initial three-month introductory period of employment)
  • Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service)
  • Voluntary Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan (403(b)plan)


Position Summary

This position is essential to ensuring daily store and production operations are carried out appropriately. Meeting production goals, maintaining quality standards, supporting customer service, and helping direct staff are key parts of this position. This role assists with employee training, coaching, and evaluations while helping to ensure donations and merchandise are handled properly. Maintaining an environment with a safety focus and proper staff support are key to doing this job well.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Operations and staff oversight

    • Oversee staff on the sales floor, in production, and in receiving areas to help ensure daily goals are met.
    • Assist with quality assurance, customer service issue resolution, and cross-department support as needed.


  • Training and accountability


  • Help train staff, monitor performance, and assist with employee evaluations and corrective feedback.
  • Ensure work areas are safe, organized, and consistent with Salvation Army standards.



Education/Experience, Skills, Qualities, Requirements

Education/Experience



  • High school diploma or equivalency required; business coursework or degree preferred
  • Two or more years of retail, warehouse, or production experience required
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Requirements



  • Driving

    • This position may need to fill in for Driver in their absence.
    • Must be minimally 21 years of age and possessing a valid in-state Driver's License


  • Background Check

    • Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies


  • Physical

    • Ability to access and produce information from the POS, to operate telephone, to understand written information
    • Ability to maneuver, to remain in a stationary position, to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to lift 50-75 pounds, move large items, bend, reach, grasp, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions. Ability to stand for extended periods in a warehouse/production environment.
