Summary of Job Duties:The Project Specialist supports the Local Leads initiative by providing day to day operational, administrative, and early childhood program support for providers, families, and students in Scott and Sebastian counties. This position maintains the Local Leads resource systems, assists with CLASS related processes, ensures smooth coordination of materials and communications, and contributes to community and provider engagement efforts. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in early childhood education or a related field.

  • Background in early childhood education, child development, or related field.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain CLASS observer certifications (Infant/Toddler & Pre-K).

  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate documentation.

  • Capacity to travel occasionally within the catchment area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field

  • Experience in early childhood programs, family engagement, or resource coordination.

  • Previous exposure to CLASS tools or observational systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Support & Provider Engagement

  • Support early childhood students, child care providers, families, and community partners by sharing Local Leads information, resources, and guidance.

  • Assist providers in accessing materials from UAFS Early Childhood enrichment libraries and resource rooms.

  • Serve as a point of communication for providers seeking referrals, materials, and project updates.

CLASS Support & Observational Infrastructure

  • Become trained as a CLASS Infant/Toddler and Preschool observer.

  • Assist with CLASS scheduling, communication, and data organization as directed by the Team Captain.

  • Help maintain files, logistical tools, and tracking systems for CLASS observations, recalibration requirements, and provider preparation resources.

Administrative/Operational Duties in Coordination with UAFS School of Education and the Local Lead Team

  • Order materials, maintain inventory, and manage office resources needed for Local Leads operations.

  • Prepare and submit travel requests, mileage documentation, and related administrative paperwork for the School of Education 10% of the time.

  • Ensure a professional, organized presence for the Local Leads office on the UAFS campus.

  • Support the Project Director and Team Captain in preparing documents, meeting logistics, and resource dissemination.

  • Support the Project Director in semester scheduling, textbook adoptions, and completing background checks.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Assist with community resource distribution, including Baby Brain Bags, Kindergarten Readiness materials, and other familyengagement tools used across the catchment area.

  • Provide communication support for newsletters, digital content, and informational campaigns as needed.

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain a collaborative and professional team environment.

  • Support leadership through timely communication, feedback, and initiative.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrate consistent and punctual attendance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of early childhood education and child development

  • Excellent communication, marketing, and outreach skills across print, digital, and interpersonal formats.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, survey tools, and virtual meeting platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with data collection, analysis, and reporting for educational outcomes.

  • Understanding of university operations and grant-related compliance requirements.

Additional Information:

Work Expectations

  • Fulltime twelve-month role aligned with ADE's Local Lead requirements.

  • Some travel within the catchment area and to the Office of Early Childhood required for observations, meetings, and partner coordination.

  • Participation in all ADErequired meetings, trainings, and statewide gatherings.

Work Conditions and Special Dimensions

  • Primarily office-based with occasional local and statewide travel.

  • Extended work hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required.

  • Prolonged use of computers and digital devices; must occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.

  • Subject to criminal and financial background checks.

Salary Information:

$40,000-$45,000 per year, based on education, credentials and experience in early childhood education
