Senior Finance Analyst, Lease Accounting

This position is part of the Sherwin Business Services (SBS) team and plays a key role in accounting for the Company's Global Property and Equipment leases. Primary responsibilities include performing tasks to ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of the Company's lease population within the global lease accounting system, preparing monthly journal entries in accordance with the lease accounting standard, and executing process improvement initiatives. This position has significant interaction with other functional areas, including the regional accounting teams, Global Accounting & Intercompany COE, Global Controllership, Technical Accounting, Global Transaction Systems, IT, Procurement, system users, etc. This position also works directly with the Company's lease accounting system vendor and external auditors.

This position is not hybrid/remote and will be located at our Global Headquarters in Cleveland, OH.

Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Perform key tasks related to the ongoing lease accounting process

  • Work with regional accounting teams and other functional areas to help ensure that a complete and accurate lease population is maintained in the lease accounting system.

  • Perform validation procedures to ensure completeness and accuracy of lease calculations within the lease accounting system, including assistance with quarterly questionnaire process.

  • Document process procedures related to the ongoing process.

Assist with administration of the lease accounting system

  • Provide support to lease accounting system users.

  • Update the lease accounting system user manual and provide training as needed.

  • Identify impact of system releases and adjust processes as needed.

Perform tasks to ensure compliance with the lease accounting standard.

  • Validate and monitor lease accounting system integrity for accounting period, including validation of source system, Lucernex, to GL or OneStream. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Prepare and analyze period-end lease accounting journal entries.

  • Assist with lease impairment administration, analysis, and system calculations.

  • Prepare reporting including Expense Reconciliation, supporting files and Roll Forward Reporting.

  • Provide support as necessary for the external auditors.

Identify opportunities for lease process improvement and assist with execution of those initiatives

  • Assist GTS/IT and software provider to drive or implement software improvements.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or finance
  • Certified Public Accountant and/or MBA desirable, but not required
  • 3+ years' experience in accounting, auditing, and/or financial analysis
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa status
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age

Preferred:

  • Audit experience
  • SEC reporting experience
  • Familiar with Oracle Cloud
  • Familiar with lease accounting and/or administration
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with Lucernex
