Radiation Therapy Unit Overview
The Radiation Therapy unit at GW Hospital specializes in delivering advanced radiation treatments for cancer patients in a supportive, patient-centered environment. Our team uses state-of-the-art technology and a multidisciplinary approach to provide safe and effective care for a diverse range of oncology cases.

Radiation Therapy RN Role
As a Radiation Therapy RN, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients receiving radiation treatments. You'll assess and monitor patient status, manage symptoms and side effects, educate patients and families, and collaborate closely with radiation oncologists and therapists to ensure optimal outcomes.

Main Tasks

  • Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after radiation therapy
  • Provide patient education on treatment plans, side effects, and self-care
  • Manage and document symptoms, side effects, and interventions
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, therapists, and the oncology care team
  • Offer emotional support to patients and families throughout the treatment process
  • Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current DC RN license (or eligible to obtain)
  • BLS certification (AHA-certified)
  • Minimum 1 year of oncology or acute care nursing experience

Preferred:

  • OCN certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Experience in radiation oncology settings
