Rantec Power Systems Inc. is hiring an in-person Manufacturing Engineering Intern!Rantec islocated in Los Osos, California is an upper-tier designer and manufacturer of power supplies for the military and aerospace markets. We are an engineering-based company, with expertise in all aspects of power supply design, manufacturing and test.

Scope
Manufacturing Engineering Intern will work within production space to contribute and learn. Gain valuable hands-on experience while being a part of a team that foster's innovation, employee involvement. Perform task related to electronic assembly, tooling design, assembly instruction, and document updates of power supply development for defense and aerospace applications. This position will work alongside Manufacturing and Process Engineers as they encounter challenges. During the Summer period a project will be assigned which improves product on time delivery, reduced production cost, and eliminate defects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support assembly documentation by updating standard work that includes descriptions and photos.
  • Update product routes within Rantec's ERP system.
  • Value stream mapping of production processes and product to eliminate waste.
  • Contribute to manufacturing team to solve problems that reduce defects and cost.
  • Design and document manufacturing fixtures using SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Solve a variety of production problem daily.
  • Testing new materials through various manufacturing processes and reporting on findings.
  • Create reports using various data from our MRP system; analyze trends.
  • Create fixturing tools for use by assemblers and suppliers.
  • Repair/refurbishment of worn assembly tools.
  • Provide feedback on current manufacturing methods.
  • Support updates on training materials.
  • Support product improvement through the analysis of existing products and the incorporation of process improvements.
  • Incorporate product changes originating from changes in manufacturing requirements, and to address issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, scheduling meetings and other engineering work groups as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, as required.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
  • As the Company's success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, and work each day, as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position requires access to our export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology and services. These items are restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to U.S. Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents of the U.S. and properly licensed foreign persons. Therefore, employment is contingent on compliance with ITAR regulations and successfully obtaining and maintaining the necessary export authorization license from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of State's Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.

Education and Experience
  • Interest in electronics manufacturing
  • 1 year of previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft word, excel, power point
  • Pursuing degree related to Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering (IME, ME, IE, GE)
  • Ability to manage time and tasks
  • Able to communicate clearly to document instructions of processes
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Able to effectively take photos
  • Good organization skills with superb attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze drawings, written procedures, and processes to find the best method of achieving desired results
  • Ability to design basic MFG tooling using SolidWorks or AutoCAD software
  • Knowledge of ERP & MRP software
  • Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • 3.0 or higher GPA
