POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Brandywine seeks a dynamic, compassionate, studentcentered professional to take a leadership role in academic persistence at Penn State Brandywine. The Specialist has primary responsibility for our Student Academic Success Center (SASC). The Specialist will guide the daily operations of the Center, which includes tutoring and academic coaching services across academic disciplines: The Specialist will oversee individual and group tutoring and coaching; coordinate workshops and events; manage data collection, analysis, and assessment; and recruit, train, and supervise parttime tutors and coaches. In this role, the Specialist is a leading strategic advocate for students and a campus partner in advancing academic success initiatives by, for example, co-leading the cross-unit Brandywine Retention Team.

The ideal candidate will bring strong collaboration, communication, and listening skills, along with the ability to think strategically about how the SASC can most effectively support student learning and persistence. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to serving students from all backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate, as a key lead within Academic Affairs, across campus units to support success and persistence for all students, from matriculation through graduation.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement learning resources, including tutoring, academic coaching, and workshops.
  • Supervise student peer tutors and professional tutors and coaches; provide ongoing training-often in collaboration with faculty-to ensure high-quality services, as well as informal mentoring.
  • Manage all recruitment, hiring, and other employment processes in our Human Resources Information System, Workday.
  • Oversee the administrative operations and direction of the Student Academic Success Center, including managing the Center's budget.
  • Deliver some tutoring and coaching, and/or workshops in areas of expertise, including in-class presentations for students and colleagues.
  • Promote Center services and activities through classroom visits, New Student Orientation, and targeted outreach.
  • Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Ability to interpret data and apply insights to strengthen programs and services and recognize and address barriers that impact student learning and persistence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting and adapting to students' evolving and developmental academic needs.
  • Capacity to create inclusive learning environments for all students and explain complex concepts in accessible, studentfriendly ways.
  • Skilled in envisioning and implementing strategies that advance student success.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across roles and disciplines and build strong partnerships with faculty, staff, and campus units.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience guiding, training, and mentoring peer and professional tutors and coaches.
  • Experience overseeing budgets, hiring processes, and administrative systems effectively.
  • Proven ability to translate data insights into actionable program improvements.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Master's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $46,400.00 - $67,300.00.
