Genesis10 is currently seeking an API Developer - Java / AWS - Hybrid for a 6+ month contract position with a Regional Health Insurance Provider located in Eagan, MN.

Pay range:
$65.90 - $75.90 per hour, W2

We are seeking an experienced API Developer to support backend service development and integration initiatives across a large-scale healthcare technology environment. This role will focus on building scalable, high-performing APIs using modern Java-based frameworks within cloud-native architecture. This position emphasizes general API development and backend services, with flexibility to support evolving program needs, including contributions to broader enterprise initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend integration services
  • Build scalable services using Java (primary) with supporting JavaScript/TypeScript where applicable
  • Develop and deploy services in a cloud-based environment (AWS preferred)
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to align on technical direction and integration patterns
  • Translate loosely defined requirements into working solutions in a fast-moving environment
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and Agile ceremonies
  • Contribute to improving API standards, performance, and reusability across teams

Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java backend development
  • Proven experience building and consuming APIs and microservices
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript for supporting services/tools
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and proactively solve problems

Desired skills:

  • Exposure to FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) - highly preferred but not required
  • Prior experience in healthcare or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, API security, and integration patterns
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale transformation programs
