Summary:

The Manager of Development leads all fundraising efforts for Lincoln Hospital in Damariscotta and oversees the development program. In collaboration with and supervision of development staff, this role is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations; researching potential grant opportunities and preparing grant proposals; and maintaining and enhancing annual fundraising initiatives. Working closely with the President, the Director of Marketing and Communications, and the development team, the Manager of Development connects regional donors with the organization's key initiatives and funding priorities. Success in this role is measured by the ability to generate revenue beyond historical fundraising levels, including the Annual Fund, Tufts Program Fund, major gifts, and planned giving. Annual fundraising goals and performance targets will be established across all giving categories.

This position is based in the Coastal Region.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  2. License/Certification: N/A.
  3. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience, either professional or voluntary, raising funds for a non-profit organization.
  4. Proven experience in the design and management of development programs.
  5. A track record of developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, volunteers, staff and donors; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Familiarity with corporate, and foundation fund-raising resources.
  7. The ability to give and take direction and the ability to listen.
  8. Familiarity with assistive technology and methods for production of documents in alternate formats is preferred.
  9. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, employees, customers and/or boards of directors.
  10. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  11. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
