THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be tasked with the upkeep, repair, and troubleshooting of various electrical and mechanical systems within the facility. Your responsibilities will include servicing laundry machines, fire alarm systems, lighting fixtures, battery-operated vehicles, and appliances used in dietary, nursing, and housekeeping departments. Additionally, you will work on renovating electrical wiring in both residential and clinical buildings, maintain high-tension power lines and transformers, and ensure that all tasks meet local and state electrical codes. Proficiency in reading blueprints, interpreting diagrams, using electrical testing tools, and diagnosing system issues is crucial. Alongside regular maintenance duties, you will also engage in asbestos abatement activities, which involve the removal, encapsulation, and safe handling of asbestos materials while adhering to safety protocols. This includes repairing fixtures on ceilings that contain asbestos, following specific work methods, and completing necessary training for asbestos and medical monitoring. It is vital to use personal trade tools, follow strict safety guidelines, and consistently perform preventive maintenance to guarantee the safe and reliable operation of all systems within the facility. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel and overtime as needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid license as a journey-level electrician issued by the local Pennsylvania jurisdiction.
  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require medical examination.
