As a key member of the Agriscience & Fermentation Team, the Application Scientist will be responsible for achieving Roquette's mission by developing innovative solutions for our customers. Roquette supports sustainable agricultural practice through the use of plant-derived raw materials. The Application Scientist will interact will all facets of industry to identify and promote a diverse collection of solutions in areas including biostimulants, seed coatings, active ingredient delivery, and formulations for microbial products. The Application Scientist will interface with our global team across all levels of Customer Technical Services, Collaboration Teams, Sales, Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, and Legal departments, as well as customers. Applicant will need to practice sound technical, communication and negotiation skills that ensure the successful implementation and delivery of application projects.

This position is located in Geneva, IL.

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $100,000-135,000. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead agronomy customers studies in collaboration with researchers (internal and external) and conduct in depth analysis of trial data to demonstrate the functional value of our solutions (includes current product range, market extension, and new product development)
  • Develop application solutions to support customer needs based on scientific evidence and relations between function and structure/composition
  • Support customers trials with a high degree of technical challenge to improve our customer support, our solutions, and develop new solutions
  • Contribute to innovation projects and new product developments
  • Provide support to Marketing and Regulatory teams as Agriscience solutions are brought to market
  • Create and animate training and product promotion materials for sales, distributors, customers and/or go to market resources
  • Study market trends and assess various agriculture market sub-segments to tailor solutions and drive approach to commercial success
  • Develop policies, procedures, documentation and facilitate training on current and new processes across the global CTS and R&D team
  • Practice due diligence in keeping records with proper documentation to facilitate innovation and protect value through patenting of our solutions
  • Deliver technical seminars on product and process solutions at customer and large group settings
  • Contribute to a safe and environmentally friendly workplace and comply with Roquette's safety policies and SOP

What You'll Need:

  • Required: MS or PhD in Agronomy, Horticulture, Sustainable Ag, Crop Science, or related field from an accredited College or University.
  • Preferred: four (4) to six (6) years in Ag product development or support
  • Diverse knowledge and experience with specialty ingredients for the agriculture and horticulture markets
  • Direct customer support experience a plus
  • Managerial: Leadership, project management, able to coach
  • Experience as a technical leader to coordinate and execute cross functional projects
  • Resourceful, effective team player, with ability to work with some autonomy
  • Some travel, including international travel, may be required
