IT Support / Network Support Specialist (Intermediate Level) Position Description Seeking an experienced IT Support Specialist to provide onsite and remote technology support across multiple client environments. The organization supports enduser technologies for a large number of educational organizations and maintains a centralized support operation that delivers infrastructure, telecommunications, systems, and service desk support. This role supports a distributed client environment made up of multiple locations, each staffed with junior and senior network specialists responsible for hardware and software troubleshooting. Supported technologies include, but are not limited to, Chromebooks, PCs, Windows devices, smart boards, tablets, projectors, and other classroom and enduser technologies. Prior experience supporting instructional or enduser technology environments is considered a strong plus. The selected candidate will report to a Managed IT Team Lead and work closely with technical staff, administrators, and executivelevel stakeholders. Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills are essential, as this role requires direct interaction with both technical and nontechnical users. Responsibilities * Provide hardware and software troubleshooting within a Windowsbased environment * Support enduser and classroom technologies including Chromebooks, projectors, smart boards, and tablets * Deliver desktop support services and resolve networkrelated issues * Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving LAN/WAN environments * Work with IP addressing, network troubleshooting tools, and networking fundamentals * Support and manage Active Directory tasks such as user account creation and removal * Communicate effectively with clients to explain technical issues and solutions clearly Required Technical Skills & Experience * Strong desktop support background * Working knowledge of networking principles and troubleshooting techniques * Experience working with IP configurations and basic network diagnostics * Familiarity with routers, switches, and wireless networking * Comfort working in Active Directory environments * Experience supporting Windows operating systems Preferred / Encouraged Experience * Proficiency with Windows XP and Windows 7 * Experience with VMware and server virtualization * Ability to install network operating systems and perform basic upgrades * Network troubleshooting experience (printers, routers, user/group management) * Advanced desktop and workstation troubleshooting * Configuration and management of Windows software * Experience with server hardware configuration * Switch configuration and troubleshooting * LAN/WAN experience * Basic knowledge of SAN environments * Support of virtual server environments * Advanced email troubleshooting * Advanced workstation setup and installation experience Skills * System Configuration * Operational Support Additional Information * Industry certifications such as CCNA are a plus but not required Sample Interview Topics / Smart Questions * What information does IPConfig provide? * How do you use PING to troubleshoot network issues? * What experience do you have with routers and switches? * Describe your experience with wireless networking * What experience do you have working with Active Directory?
