Overview

The Wealth Portfolio Manager is responsible for delivering high-quality investment advice and portfolio management for high-net-worth (HNW) client relationships, in close partnership with a Wealth Advisor. This role manages moderately complex client relationships with increasing independence and accountability, emphasizing investment strategy development, disciplined portfolio construction, proactive client engagement, and integration with broader financial planning. The Portfolio Manager ensures client objectives are met through structured discovery, ongoing oversight, and coordinated execution across internal partners.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management

  • Partner with the Wealth Advisor to lead meaningful portions of client discovery, identifying goals, risk tolerance, time horizons, and planning needs; synthesize findings into clear investment direction.
  • Collaborate with the advisor to assess HNW and PCS prospect needs and align investment solutions that support new business opportunities.
  • Deliver a highquality, clientcentric experience aligned with the JFG Way that integrates investment guidance with broader financial planning considerations.
  • Provide proactive communication regarding investment strategy, market conditions, and portfolio positioning tailoring messaging to client sophistication and preferences.
  • Conduct recurring client reviews, ensure follow-ups are completed, and anticipate client questions with timely education and guidance.
  • Maintain accurate, timely CRM documentation of client interactions, decisions, and action items; reinforce precision and operational excellence.

Business Development

  • Support the Wealth Advisor team in achieving business development objectives through strong retention behaviors, proactive service, and solution alignment.
  • Contribute to sales production, referrals, and client retention by participating in joint calling efforts and helping advance prospects through proposal and portfolio design support.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism in client, community, and industry settings; build credibility through expertise and follow-through.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with the Wealth Advisor, Financial Planning, and Private Client Banking teams to deliver integrated, holistic solutions.
  • Assemble and coordinate teams of investment specialists (as needed) to deliver comprehensive, client-focused solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to support account administration, reporting, compliance, and platform usage.

Portfolio Design & Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain customized investment strategies aligned with client objectives and risk profiles for an assigned book of business of moderate complexity.
  • Monitor portfolios for performance, allocation drift, tax efficiency, liquidity needs, and market changes; recommend and execute adjustments consistent with policy and guidelines.
  • Rebalance portfolios in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Management of complex financial solutions, ensuring clear communication, implementation, maintenance and ongoing administration of the client relationship.

Risk Management, Regulation & Compliance

  • Adhere to internal policies, supervisory standards, and regulatory requirements in daily client and portfolio activities.
  • Identify and mitigate portfolio and operational risks, applying sound judgment and escalating appropriately when issues exceed authority or complexity.
  • Ensure complete, accurate preparation and maintenance of client documentation.

Qualifications

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4-6 years of experience in wealth management, portfolio strategy, or investment advisory supporting HNW client relationships.
  • Series 65/66 or IA equivalent.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, CFP, CTFA, ChFC encouraged.
  • Knowledge of trusts, qualified plans, and business succession concepts preferred.

Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships in a consultative capacity with increasing autonomy.
  • Experience in portfolio construction, investment strategy, and ongoing portfolio oversight processes.
  • Proven collaboration with internal partners and platforms supporting investment management and client delivery.

Core Competencies

  • Strong understanding of investment principles, asset allocation, capital markets, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to explain investment concepts clearly and confidently.
  • High professionalism, attention to detail, ethical judgment, and ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining documentation discipline.
