The Medical College of Wisconsin's Division of Nephrology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant toprovide specialty medical care within the inpatient setting. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital.

TheAdvanced Practice Provider(APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

Position Highlights:
  • Inpatient Advanced Practice Provider on the Inpatient Nephrology Consult Team. Seeing patients in both general and transplant nephrology.

  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams to diagnose and treat conditions requiring medical intervention as a member of the nephrology team.

  • Writes accurate and timely progress notes.

  • Order perform and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures, tests and appropriately communicate and document information.

  • Educates patients on disease and treatment plans related to kidney disease.

  • Position is in person at Froedtert Hospital main campus in Wauwatosa, WI.

  • Inpatient teams include faculty, APP, fellow, residents, students.

  • Reports to Division Administrator in collaboration with APP Lead.

Schedule:
  • Typical schedule is Monday - Friday, 8-4:30 (1.0FTE)

  • Saturday day shifts in rotation with team members 1:8

  • Moonlighting shifts available

  • Salaried (Exempt)

Department/Division Highlights:
  • The Division of Nephrology consists of 28 faculty members and 19 APPs. Together we provide state of the art collaborative and patient-centered care to adult patients with kidney disease, hypertension and fluid and electrolyte abnormalities.

  • Special areas of emphasis in patient care and research include transplant nephrology, onco-nephrology, kidney stone analysis and acute kidney injury.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous APP nephrology or acute care experience preferred.

  • Open to new graduates or experienced APP's

Minimum Requirements: *or eligible*

Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner

  • Master's Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.

  • Wisconsin RN License

  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License

Certification Requirements (multi-select which are applicable for position):

  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) required within 6 months of start date

  • DEA registration

  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization

    • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)

    • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP)

Physician Assistant

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.

  • Wisconsin Physician Assistant License

  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Certification Requirements (multi-select which are applicable for position):

  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
