Summary:

The Gift Shop Operations Coordinator provides a cheerful and attractive gift shop where giftware, books, toilette articles, uniform apparel, candy and plush items may be purchased. Provides supervision of the Vending Services department as well, including managing volunteers who stock, perform maintenance and deposit collected monies in addition to all inventory and supply chain.

Responsibilities:

Performs the following duties related to gift shop management In coordination with the Volunteer Leadership Team's Cheer Corner Committee

a. Schedules and supervises staff and volunteers associated with Cheer Corner and drink machines, ensuring that that shop is open 7 days per week.

b. Purchases, inventories, and coordinates displays of merchandise.

c. Plans and implements marketing strategies.

d. Reviews shift receipts and makes deposits. Supervises bookkeeping. Maintains all records in accordance with Finance Department guidelines and requirements.

e. Completes Payroll Deduction Preparation each pay period to ensure employee balances are maintained and appropriate withholdings are made each pay period.

f. Develops and revises annual Cheer Corner Handbook in addition to the NCR Counterpoint handbook.

g. Reviews and develops annual Cheer Corner budget under direction of DVS.

h. Attends regional conference for gift shop managers as appropriate.

Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.

a) Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures assuming responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures.

Organize work activities to ensure completion on time.

a. Understands priority of assignments.

b. Avoids crisis through appropriates planning and follow though.

Promotes a professional image of the hospital and department.

a. Maintains professional conduct and appearance at all times.

b. Responding to customers in a manner consistent with hospital's expectations.

c. Provides a positive atmosphere to promote goodwill, resolving customer issues, responding to special requests, and ensuring high-quality customer service.

Other information:

  • EDUCATION
    • Two years of college education or the equivalent
    • Bachelors Degree is preferred.
    • Five years retail experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • EXPERIENCE
    • At least two years of related supervisory experience in the retail field. Knowledge of merchandising and accounting techniques including proper cash handling. Microsoft Office skills necessary. Experience in computerized inventory control is preferred.
