Position Summary

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, preparing reconciliations, and assisting with day-to-day accounting operations. This position partners cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, accounts are reconciled timely, and financial information is complete and reliable. The role supports a variety of accounting functions including general ledger activity, vendor and expense processing, account analysis, and process improvement initiatives.



Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)



  • Prepare, review, and post accounting transactions to ensure accurate financial records
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Review and process invoices, payment requests, and employee expense activity in accordance with company policies
  • Maintain accurate vendor and financial records within the ERP system
  • Research and resolve discrepancies related to account balances, transactions, and supporting documentation
  • Assist in preparing schedules and supporting documentation for audits, tax filings, and financial reporting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate approvals and financial processing
  • Analyze financial data and account activity to identify variances, trends, and areas requiring follow-up
  • Help maintain internal controls and support compliance with company policies and accounting procedures
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency within accounting operations
  • Provide support for ad hoc reporting, special projects, and other accounting duties as assigned



Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in general accounting, corporate accounting, or related functions
  • Experience in general accounting, account reconciliation, month-end close, and financial reporting preferred
  • Experience working with ERP systems; NetSuite preferred
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and multitasking abilities


Special Requirements: Occasional travel to our Aurora, NY headquarters



Location: Fully remote (occasional travel to Aurora, NY headquarters may be required)



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems



Equipment Used:

Computer, printer, telephone, photocopier, scanner, adding machine and calculator



Physical and Mental Requirements:



  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, push, pull, use fingers to grasp, handle, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists
  • Light mental and visual attention required for performing work where there is some variety, but actions taken, and decisions made are limited to few possibilities. Work requires some coordination with others.
