LOCATION: Remote within commuting distance of Sterling, VA is preferred

SUMMARY: The ESS Field Engineer is responsible for test and installation support of ESS systems. The ESS Field Engineer must be able to read system requirements and produce system diagrams, bills of materials, and other engineering and installation support materials. The ESS Field Engineer should be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures regarding ESS design and deployment on Government installations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Support ESS Field Engineers in developing equipment lists, test plans and procedures, assembly procedures, and installation instructions for electronic security systems
  • Demonstrated, hands on experience with electronic security systems, to include video management systems, intrusion detection sensors, access control systems, PC based
  • security software and applications, communications equipment, and day/night/thermal imaging cameras
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, diagrams, schematics, user's manuals & troubleshooting guides is a must
  • Experience in installing and/or configuring networking equipment, fiber optics, hardwired interfaces, low voltage power distribution and power sources, cable pulling, conduit bend/install, computer-based systems and software - troubleshooting experience is preferred
  • Assume primary responsibility for PITCO (Pre-Installation Test and CheckOut) to be conducted in the Sterling VA facility including programming ESS panels, configuring network and assignment of IPs, configuring devices and ensuring all items are prepared for onsite installation
  • Pack and coordinate with BCF logistics to ship equipment to site
  • Support tooling, ensuring the proper tools are in working order, sent to field sites, and upon completion received from field and repaired if required
  • Support field personnel in the installation and testing of equipment and systems. This sometimes includes traveling to site to ensure the head-ends are installed correctly, and additional modifications are incorporated, and the system is working as required
  • Programming head-ends at customer site when required, typically for modifying/correcting items not previously identified in PITCO
  • Support the installation of systems in mobile platforms and fixed facilities
  • Must be able to travel as needed
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: This position provides assistance to field personnel and technicians during installation and System Acceptance Test (SAT).

Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited institution (preferred majors Engineering or Engineering Technology, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer Science, or related engineering field) and 5 years of experience in the design and installation of ESS systems. If no Bachelor's degree, must have 10 years of experience in the design and installation of ESS systems.
  • 8+ years of experience in security systems including CCTV, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Access Control Systems (ACS) preferred
  • ESS system certifications preferred (Hirsh, Lenel, Genetec, Vindicator, CCURE, AMAG, or similar)
COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • Skilled in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment
  • Must have advanced proficiency in a variety of computer software applications in word processing and spreadsheets (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CLEARANCE:
  • Must possess (or be able to obtain and maintain) an active DoD Secret security clearance

Work Environment - The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will normally work in a BCF integration facility or at the customer site for system installation and/or testing. The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud.
