DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide confidential administrative and clerical support to the Commandant of the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center. Your work will involve managing the Commandant's schedules, prioritizing work assignments, making travel arrangements, and creating reimbursement requests. You will coordinate meetings, inventory supplies and office equipment, and maintain reference materials. Some of your duties will also include monitoring incoming and outgoing correspondence, responding to written and verbal inquiries, and submitting paperwork for permits and licensures. Additionally, you will develop and submit articles for the center's newsletter and provide administrative support to staff in the center.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have at least two years of experience utilizing software applications within the Microsoft package and other software packages to create and maintain spreadsheets, calendars, documents, and rosters.
  • You must be able to work with various office equipment such as a scanner, printer, fax machine, computer/tablet, telephone/personal communication devices, etc.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience working in an office setting as a clerk or personal assistant

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
