Position Highlights

The Department of Biomedical Engineering seeks a Research Technician II to support the Jennifer Barton Laboratory in research and development activities, including assisting with building and testing tissue models and endoscopic devices. Duties will include acquiring images, performing basic analysis, documenting results, and supporting the preparation of standard operating procedures and communication of findings.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides support in assembling medical imaging devices using optical components and biocompatible materials.
  • Participates in the validation of device performance through functional testing.
  • Assists in analyzing images to assess output and anatomical targets.
  • Assist with building and testing synthetic tissue models by following written instructions and standard laboratory procedures.
  • Check models for basic anatomical features and material flexibility and record observations as directed.
  • Record findings from laboratory activities in reports.
  • Support the development of standard operating procedures and help prepare parts lists and assembly guides.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Understanding of the anatomy of urinary and reproductive tracts.
  • Experience building optical systems, including fiber optics, sensors, and light sources.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building optical systems, including fiber optics, sensors, and light sources.
